Description

Note by the Author: “In post WWII Japan there was the Occupation. After the Occupation there was the continued military presence of the U.S. Army at Camp Zama, Japan, which is still there today. Many American civilians have been employed there.

The main body of this book includes copies of three photo albums owned by a young lady from Nashville, Tennessee, by the name of Frances Peal. She ventured to Japan in the mid 1950’s and worked as a statistical clerk at Camp Zama for two years. She loved her work and loved her stay at Camp Zama.

When not working she enjoyed excursions with her friends and her camera. In these albums there are over 300 “snaps”, paintings and drawings. It also includes 30 pages of “A Guide to Camp Zama…1956.”.

Older technology and fading captions makes good pictures more arduous to produce and a few are not as good as the many others that are. Much of the text is exactly how I received it. This book documents Camp Zama during the mid 1950’s.

Given the shortage of historical information about Camp Zama, this volume is a keepsake for anyone having served there. A specific subject for a specific audience. It is a pleasure to bring it to you.”
