But if one looks closely and listens carefully, one sees extraordinary people and extraordinary events. It might be the plumber who puts his money in the slot and walks into the new automatic car wash, just to see how the darned thing works. It might be a proper lady, walking down the street with decorous manner and hat, bringing an extraordinary Victorian hue to the prairie. It might be a Presbyterian, finding himself, for some extraordinary reason, passing the collection basket in the Catholic church. It might be a haughty tom cat, who may have been a king in another life, finding time between naps to search for his missing parts. It might be a mythical troll, lurking in the fantasies of children. If one looks closely and listens carefully, extraordinary people and events can be found among the Prairie Dwellers.
