Good morning! A dinosaur dancing across the room in one red sock and one white sock because of distracted mother, coffee on my favorite coaster, a daffodil floating in my little vase. Robins so thrilled to be alive after the rain. My angel of dawn handing me the gift of another beautiful day. As the rain finally came to visit last night I found the following poem that I love on the rain bringing blessings. Here are a few more of my favorites hoping to bring you some words to think about in the back of your mind this beautiful spring day.
April Rain Song by Langston Hughes
Let the rain kiss you.
Let the rain beat upon your head with silver liquid drops.
Let the rain sing you a lullaby.
The rain makes still pools on the sidewalk.
The rain makes running pools in the gutter.
The rain plays a little sleep-song on our roof at night —
And I love the rain.
Color by Christina Georgina Rossetti
What is pink? a rose is pink
By the fountain’s brink.
What is red? a poppy’s red
In it’s barley bed.
What is blue? the sky is blue
Where the clouds float thro’.
What is white? a swan is white
Sailing in the light.
What is yellow? pears are yellow,
Rich and ripe and mellow.
What is green? the grass is green,
With small flowers between.
What is violet? clouds are violet
In the summer twilight.
What is orange? why, an orange,
Just an orange!
Hold Fast Your Dreams by Louise Driscoll
Within your heart
Keep one still, secret spot
Where dreams may go,
And sheltered so,
May thrive and grow–
Where doubt and fear are not.
oh, keep a place apart
Within your heart,
For little dreams to go.
Heaven by Langston Hughes
Heaven is
The place where
Happiness is
Everywhere.
The Day will Bring Some Lovely Thing by Grace Noll Crowell
“The day will bring some lovely thing,”
I say it over each new dawn:
“Some gay, adventurous thing to hold
Against my heart when it is gone.”
And so I rise and go to meet
The day with wings upon my feet.
I come upon it unaware–
Some sudden beauty without name:
A snatch of song – a breath of pine –
A poem lit with golden flame;
High tangled bird notes – keenly thinned –
Like flying color on the wind.
No day has ever failed me quite —
Before the grayest day is done,
I come upon some misty loom
Or a late line of crimson sun.
Each night I pause – remembering
Some gay, adventurous, lovely thing.
Thank you for letting me enter your Thursday again. Tulips. Daffodils. Our loyal friends we can count on to be behind the spring curtain when it opens. Such kind friends, showing us their smiles and open souls. Showing us the beauty of the next season of our lives. Spring. Beautiful word. Hope. Life. Joy. Do you hear the birds singing specifically for you? They learned your song over the winter and sing to cheer you and bring you comfort. Do you see the white blossoms on the trees? They are opening to surround you with quietness. With stillness. With beauty. Do you see the little robins running around. So thrilled with small wonders and small gifts. How much extra thought went into the creation of gifts to us for spring. Tonight we get a chance to once again write on our epitaph the moments given to us today. The moments that went through our hour glass. One moment at a time, regardless if we try to fit more into the moment. Will we have experiences and thoughts worthy of inscription? Will we have moments to write that we savored a moment in time? The glance at the tulip. The look from the eyes of someone who loves us. The song of our own bird singing to us outside our window. Life. Beautiful short life. Thank you for letting me have my store and for coming in for your books and gifts. How much I love to be here. Have a beautiful end of the week!!! Susan
